Family Photos 2012

We had my friend Michelle Evans (Photos by ME) come to my classroom yesterday and take family pictures for our Christmas card photo again this year.  The last few years, we've done outside locations and I wanted something more "studio style" this year.  After hanging the backdrop, we played around with some items from my classroom to get some really amazing photos.  I wanted to share a few of my favorites!!!

I asked Michelle to take enough photos for me to make a calendar, and she ended up giving me 65 proofs!!!  I will be able to make a calendar for us and a calendar for Shelby (Aaron's girlfriend) in My Digital Studio 2 using the amazing photos.

Stampin' Up! to the Rescue

I’ve been so busy leading our School Improvement Team over the past few weeks that I didn’t really realize how quickly time was passing.  In fact, I realized just Saturday that Halloween is on Wednesday and I haven’t even picked out my costume, prepared my goodies for my students (or Trick-or-Treaters at home), or done any decorating (at home or at school).

Merry Moments Christmas Card Class

My Dad's Birthday Card

Rich and I took my dad and stepmom out for dinner this weekend to celebrate Dad's 63rd birthday.  I bought him a dark gray thermal Henley shirt, but wanted the presentation to go with the gift (you may have noticed I try to match the packaging and card with the gifts whenever I can).  I had seen this amazing card on someone's blog - it is a total CASE - and had to make it for him.  I used a white gift back from a dollar store and tied coordinating Stampin' Up! ribbons to the handle.

The card was super easy!!!  I cut the paper strips 1 3/8" x 5 3/8" and attached them to a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" cardstock, then ran it through the Big Shot in an embossing folder.  You could make this card with any cardstock and/or designer paper combination.  I will be sharing this technique with my club and team members soon!

Christmas Gift Class Day!!!

I'm so excited this morning - today is my annual Christmas Gift Class at Allegan United Methodist Church at 9:00.  I have 27 people signed up - more than ever before and we will be making 9 projects!  I still have supplies for 3 people if you want to show up - class fee is $20.

New Playground for West Ward!!!

I know I've been posting a lot about school lately.  That is because I've been very busy with the beginning of the school year.  Yesterday, I helped pick out playground equipment and colors for the new playground that will be installed at our school.  They are saying the kids should be able to play on it before Thanksgiving- yippee!!!  I will share pictures of the awesome new playground after it is complete.

National Talk Like A Pirate Day

Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day so we are spending the day doing all kinds of fun pirate activities in my classroom.  Here is my attempt at cake decorating to celebrate the day - a treasure chest cake.  I will add more gold coins once I get to school (don't want them to slide off the board).  It is going to be a great day in Kindergarten - ahoy matey!!!

Birthday Cards - Same Supplies, Different Stamps

Our newest great nephew has his first birthday party tomorrow.  I found the cutest little outfit for him and had to buy it because I had a stamp set that would make the perfect card to go with it.  Here is the card I designed.

Our son also turned 24 today so I needed to make him a masculine birthday card.  The heavy equipment seemed a little juvenile, but I liked the basic design of the card so I pulled out a different stamp set and made a couple of minor changes to make his birthday card.

I hope he likes the card, but I'm afraid the $100 bill inside will be all that he cares about.

Kids Say The Funniest Things

I took my class to the Allegan County Fair today.  There were three energetic boys in my group who kept me on my toes all morning.

After visiting the "farmer for a day" exhibit (where they got to milk a little wooden cow), one boy leaned over to the other and said "I didn't know that the milk came from the nuts.  Did you know the milk came from the nuts?"

'Twas The Night Before Kindergarten,

when all through the class not a child was talking, there weren't any there.

 The name tags were laid on the table with care, in hopes that the children soon would be there. 

 The new fish were swimming all happy in their tank, while visions of students danced in Mrs. Rogers' head.

 Mrs. Rogers' desk was sparkling all clean and neat (wonder how long that will last),

and the tables were ready for each child to take their new seat.

I'm sure you can tell from the poem and photos that I am very excited and ready to start school tomorrow.  I hope your children have a wonderful school year (if they are still in school).
