Last Night in San Antonio

We went to Saltgrass Steakhouse for dinner on our last night in San Antonio. Although the service was painfully slow, the meal was incredible. I had the smothered Ribeye with Romano Potatoes and Grilled Asparagus. It was so delicious I finished every bite!

A server walked through the restaurant with a tray of yummy desserts trying to tease people into ordering them. When we asked to see it closer, he told us that every dessert on the tray had zero calories - they were all foam. Nancy couldn't resist the photo op.

After dinner, some of us walked to the Alamo. It was fun to see a piece of history up close at night.

More Leadership Projects and Dinner at Mi Tierra

My friend Missy Shipman did an amazing job as she presented on the main stage. She showed several great projects (I hope to share more of them later), but I fell in love with this beautiful keepsake box. It is made with the Christmas Keepsake Box kit on the Clearance Rack by pulling out the Christmas papers and colors and adding blue to make it patriotic. I wouldn't have ever thought of it, but can't wait to reproduce it!

I love this swap card my friend Nancy got while she was swapping. Unfortunately, I only have a picture and no information to give credit to the designer. It uses Fresh Vintage stamp set, Everyday Enchantment Brads (items you can pick FREE with $50 purchases - only available until the end of March!), and the new blossom punch (from the Occasions Mini). It would be perfect in any color!

We went to Mi Tierra - a 24 hour Mexican bakery and restaurant - for dinner. We were greeted with true sensory overload. There was a huge display case filled with dozens of tasty treats.

There were pinatas and streamers hanging from every inch of the ceiling and

even a Mexican Elvis impersonator.

Linda joined the Mariachi band in serenading us while we ate our dinner.

I picked chicken tacos for dinner. There was so much food I couldn't finish it.

Team Gathering

I enjoyed the Team Gathering so much last night!!! I shared the highlights of Leadership: some big changes and new products, my swaps, and all of the gifts from Stampin' Up! Then we stamped together - always the best part of any gathering. These are the projects we created - a Valentine card and treat pouch.

I plan to hold our Team Gathering on the second Tuesday of each month. However, I need to stick with Wednesday for the next two Gatherings. The upcoming Team Gathering dates are as follows:

Manager's Walk

Melanie, Renee, and I all promoted to Manager this year so we were able to walk on stage for the promotion. It was wonderful being recognized for all the hard work. This was in addition to Manager's Reception (I posted photos for that perk already).
I'm home and trying to catch up with all the stuff at school and home. I will try to post again this week with the rest of the photos from Leadership.

Last Day of Leadership

Yesterday was the last day of Leadership, but we still have one more day with Regionals. I got back to the hotel to post photos for you, but the internet was down. I have to leave for Regionals in 3 minutes, so this is a quick post. I'll try to post more photos from yesterday and today when I get back to the hotel tonight.

Here is my favorite card from the day. I love the simplicity!!!
This is what the tables look like when we walk up - isn't it beautiful?
They started us out with a salad and warm rolls,
Then served a boneless chicken leg quarter with creamy macaroni and cheese with steamed green beans,
then finished it off with a wonderful fudge brownie with caramel sauce, whipped cream, and a strawberry - yum yum!

Stampin' Up! Loves To Give!!!

I'm always amazed at how much I bring home from a Stampin' Up! event. This pile is all of the things I've received so far and we still have all day today and Regionals tomorrow!
One highlight of Convention and/or Leadership is the bag. We always wonder what they will do and they topped themselves this time. This reversible fabric bag was made with a possible upcoming fabric. I'm hoping they make an announcement today.
Shelli even left a couple of gifts (an organizer made from the same fabric and a cute bag of handmade chocolates made by a home office employee) that coordinated perfectly with the bag on the make & take tables Wednesday. I will try to finish up the last two make & takes tonight so I can post a photo of all of the projects they designed for us.

Our Evening on the Riverwalk

We walked down the Riverwalk tonight. We ate outside at the Cafe Ole right by the river. The entire area was lit with Christmas lights and was absolutely beautiful!

Nancy got the prettiest drink - a prickly pear margarita.
Renee and I shared fajitas for two - we couldn't finish it!
As we were finishing, a Mariachi band came up to our tables and entertained us.
When we started walking back to the resort, we found a huge crowd waiting for a riverboat parade. I couldn't believe it when we saw Spencer (a great Stampin' Up! presenter). We also saw Santa (without Mrs. Clause because she was wiped out from Leadership - who know Santa's wife was a Stampin' Up! demonstrator). I had to take a picture of the two of them together to email to Mrs. Clause.
It turns out that the parade and Santa are going to be part of an episode of Extreme Home Makeover.
We got to see Ty filming his message to the family,
the entire design crew,
and even got a close-up of Ty as we walked by. He was close enough I could have reached my hand out and touch him. I opted for a photo instead.

Today's Leadership Photos

There were some amazing announcement about the catalog program, a new product to go with our score tool (check out the happy dance the Stampin' Up! staff did when they announced the new product here), three all attendee give-aways, and more! Can't wait to share when I get home.

By the time the opening session finally finished, we were starving! We had a wonderful southwest chicken salad,
a fun bread basket,
and yummy swirl cheesecake!
Here are my favorite cards from the day (however, I'm not sure who designed each because they were on display):

and a butterfly card that would make a great technique for club using window sheet, crystal effects, and reinkers.
I loved this button display Stampin' Up! had for us to enjoy. It shows some really creative ways to use buttons.
We were pooped by the end of the day and had to rest on the couches for a while.

An Amazing Night!!!

Melanie, Renee, and I were so excited to attend Managers' Reception for the first time! This was right before we went entered. We definitely weren't disappointed!!!
My friend Susan brought her husband Lance to San Antonio with her. He came to Managers' Reception with her. I love this picture - it shows how much fun they are having on their vacation!
Lance took a picture of Susan and I together too. I'm so glad I joined this wonderful company - I've made so many great friends since I started with Stampin' Up!

Here is the one photo I can get loaded right now of the Chinese Acrobatics we watched at Leadership tonight. I'm hoping for a better connection either later tonight or in the morning to share more of what we saw. The show was incredible!!!
When Shelli walked off the stage after opening remarks, she sat down in the row right in front of us. It was cool seeing Shelli's reactions to the amazing strength and body control we were seeing on stage!
As we walked out of the theater, we were handed a new stamp set (I'm wondering if it will be in the new Summer Mini when it comes out) and a set of keepsake chopsticks. I may have to find a way to frame the chopsticks and invitation fan.
I'm so sorry I can't get the action photos to post right now. I'll try again later. Keep checking back for more of my Leadership experience.

First Day In San Antonio

I arrived in San Antonio late last night. This morning we went for a good breakfast this morning then walked to the Convention Center. Stampin' Up! had couches for us to relax on that were covered with these amazing pillows that feature beautiful fabric (I hope they announce that it will be a new fabric/paper line for us!). The bag they gave us is made from the same fabric - I'll have to take a picture and post it after Managers Reception tonight.

I had to sit in with them. Look at the base of the lamp; it's filled with gumballs. Stampin' Up! really does a great job with the details!
Here is the best card I saw today. I don't know how she made that background, but I'm determined to figure it out. Looks like a great club project to me.
We walked to the Alamo because everyone told us we needed to be sure to see it while in San Antonio. It was interesting to see some American history.

Embossed Metal Butterflies

My Mom loves butterflies so much that she is decorating her RV bathroom in them. She and my Stepdad did so much for us while we were away (including cleaning up a sewer backup mess - long story and a big part of the chaos since we returned from the trip) that I felt they deserved a special thank you.

I made these butterfly shower curtain clips for them. I used the Big Shot, Beautiful Butterflies Die, and most of our Embossing Folders. I also used aluminum roof flashing (from Lowe's - 5o foot roll that is 6" wide for about $10), hook clips (I put the holes for brads in with Crop-a-Dile), and Rhinestone Brads.

Hope you enjoy this project as much as I did. By the way, Mom & Dad were thrilled!!!

Managers' Reception Invitation

I finally have time to post - it's been chaos since I returned from my trip. This amazing invitation arrived while I was gone. It is the invitation to the Managers' Reception at Leadership!!!

One of the perks of being a Manager is a special event that Stampin' Up! plans for us one of the evenings at Leadership. I think this will be my fourth year going to Leadership, but the first time as a Manager (I've always been Supervisor or Sr. Supervisor in the past).

I love the attention to detail - they printed the information on a fan for us. The entertainment is a Chinese Acrobatics Show. I can't wait to share the details when I'm blogging from Leadership in about 2 1/2 weeks.

In The Bahamas

I know it's been more than a month since I've posted. I was really busy in November with events because I knew I wouldn't have time to do any in December. December was busy with school and preparing for our vacation. We left on Saturday for Florida, stayed there a couple of days, then flew to Grand Bahama for four days. We're waiting at the airport now for our flight back to Florida for a couple more days. We'll get back home on Christmas Eve. I promise to try to post more once I get back home. In the meantime, I thought you might enjoy seeing some of our trip.

Here is a picture of the hotel from the beach. We thought it kind of looked like a ship the way the balconies on the end were staggered.

Here is the view from our room. We just stepped onto the balcony and got a beautiful view of the harbor.

We went to a bonfire on the second night - it was windy and cold, but it was a great time!

I found this sign on a tour we went on. There is so much beautiful wildlife and plant life on the island.

Here is a small lizard we saw on the wall of a night club when we were walking one day - these little guys are everywhere here.

Rich and a man from Ohio tied on a drinking contest - the winners drank the entire drink through a straw the quickest. The split the prize - a half pint of Bacardi Gold. Rich was one of the quickest suckers.

We just loved the view of the ocean. There was a great rock formation by the ocean right in front of the Manor House.

Coconuts were growing everywhere!!!

They were putting up the plywood base for a gingerbread house as we checked in. Over the next three days, they covered it with gingerbread and decorated it. I thought it turned out very inviting.

We at lunch at a poolside grill - great burgers and lots of birds watching for crumbs to drop.

This is the last view we enjoyed before leaving the resort. It was absolutely beautiful and hard to leave.

Conferences Done & Classes Coming

Finally - A Post

It has been a whirlwind couple of weeks for me.

The beginning of the school year is always very busy for me, but I have the pleasure of helping a brand new teacher start her career in Kindergarten at my building.

Our personal life has also been hopping. We finished camping for the season, cleaned and closed up the camper for the season, and have spent time with family both of the past two weekends.

Best of all, I was at the hospital yesterday (very early in the morning) for the birth of my new grand nephew. Isn't he beautiful???

I will try to post at least a time or two this week, but keep in mind that it is the second week of school so I may get sidetracked again.

A Very Late Night

Although there are many, many, many amazing benefits of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, one of the most exciting is the opportunity to preorder products before they become available to customers. Sunday night at 1:59am (11:59pm Stampin' Up! time), was one of those opportunities. I was so excited to order the new scoring tool (and too many other products to mention), that I stayed up to place my preorder as soon as they became available.

My faithful dog Lily stayed up with me. Well, I woke up very sleepy at 7:30 this morning (2 1/2 hours later than normal). I had to wake Lily up to go potty at 9:15 and then she just wanted to roll over and go back to sleep. Now, about 6 1/2 hours later, she is still napping on the couch.

I'm very excited about the products in the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog - I can't wait to create samples and start sharing them with you. I have been saying "there is no way Stampin' Up! can top this catalog", but they keep outdoing themselves!

Back Home Again

I got home on Monday, but I have to say it is hard to break the habits I got into on vacation. I went out for lunch on Tuesday with my friend Susan. We went to Mongolian Grill. It was a fresh and delicious meal. We enjoyed talking about what we learned at Convention and what we plan to do next with our businesses based on what we learned.

Here are a few more cards to enjoy. I love the use of the flower punch for the flame on these birthday candles.

Since it is so hot here, I started thinking about Christmas cards in an attempt to cool down. Here are two beautiful examples I saw on my trip. They both use the new pennant punch!

Extra Day On Trip

Saturday night, some of our group flew home on the "red eye" so there was some major packing going on. Here is the FULL elevator with three of the girls from our group and their luggage.

When I got as far as Chicago on Sunday, the airline was looking for three volunteers to take a bump. I wouldn't ordinarily do this, but the offer was so sweet I couldn't pass it up. They offered $400 in airline vouchers, a night at the Crowne Plaza, free shuttle from and to the airport, and dinner. Since I didn't have to be home for work on Monday, I decided to go for it.

Although I was without luggage (and everything but my computer and my camera were in the luggage), I am glad I did it. Here are photos of the room and dinner I enjoyed on the airline.

Last Day of Convention

Today was the last day of Convention. Although I'm sad to see this exciting week end, I'm really tired and looking forward to sleeping in my own bed tomorrow night.

I went to Memento Mall with my friend Susan today and had to take advantage of the umbrella display. I snapped a few pictures of Susan - this was my favorite.

When we were leaving the building at the end of the day, I had to have someone take a picture from the other side of the door.

We went to Biaggi's for dinner tonight. My friend Diana ordered the Caprese which looked scrumptious.

I had the Farefale Alfredo - it was delicious.

After dinner, we decided to walk for a while at the outdoor mall. I was so amused by the fountains where children were running around and screaming in delight.
So here are my the rest of my favorite swaps before the WOW swap last night. I will be posting those once I return home.

Another Fun Day at Convention

It's midnight here (2:00am at home) so this has to be a quick post. I put in a lot of pictures, but the explanations have to be short.

First, here are three of my favorite swap cards (before the organized swap I was in tonight). I will take pictures and post those after I've slept and finished with Convention activities.

I was so excited to meet Renee Wright today! She was my Demonstrator Business Building Coach. When I walked up and said my name, she started talking about how much she enjoyed the Simply Adorned inserts I sent her back in January. I can't believe she remembered me and my small gift!

We went for breakfast at the hotel this morning. I couldn't finish this yummy meal, but I sure gave it a try.

We at dinner at The Blue Lemon at 5:30, but I saved room for dessert at the Marriott with Rebecca Bernzweig, Ruth Bingle, and Susan Auyer at 7:30. It was great to sit down with very successful demonstrators and learn what is working well for them in their businesses. I really enjoyed my time with them.

I picked the strawberry cheesecake. It was so fresh and summery.

However, I had "dessert envy" as soon as I saw Susan's decadent hot chocolate cake.

In the end, I still love Susan even though she didn't offer to share with me.

We rushed from dessert with these girls to second dessert with the group I've enjoyed eating with most of the week. We went back to The Bayleaf Cafe because we enjoyed it so much last night.

We drank out of Mason jars - check out the size of this water.

But, water wasn't the only refreshment enjoyed tonight. Denise was thrilled when she got carded and so was Melanie.

But, when Pat went to hand the waitress her ID, she didn't need it. We got to laughing so hard I almost wet my pants.
My second dessert of the night was Brown Betty. I'd never had it before, but I was sure glad I had ordered it. It was so delicious I almost forgot about the dessert envy earlier in the evening.

Here is a group shot outside of the restaurant. It was a late night, but it was a blast. One of the best things about convention is the time spent with old friends and making lots of new friends. I've definitely done both on this trip.

First Official Day of Convention

First, I'll share two of my favorite swaps from today.

The first is a very vintage look from my friend Jenny Peterson - it uses one of the new Designer Frames Embossing Folder, Crumb Cake Seam Binding, and Precious Butterflies (hostess set).

The next card was designed by Jacque Craig and uses the new My Friend stamp set, Beautiful Wings Embossing Folder, and Rhinestones.

There were exciting announcements at the general session today about new products coming in the upcoming Holiday Mini. One is a new scoring tool that I can't wait to order. I'm sure it will quickly become one of your favorite tools!

The most innovative product they announced today was a new cookie stamp set that will become available on October 1st. They served us cookies made with this product at lunch today. I can't wait to get my hands on the cookie stamps and use them with the students in my Kindergarten class.
Here is our entire group at lunch today It is fun to get together with my stamping friends for a few days every summer. I'm enjoying my time here so much - it doesn't seem like I had been here less than 48 hours when this photo was taken. I had just eaten my 7th meal since I arrived.

So here is the 8th meal. We went to Bayleaf Cafe for dinner and I enjoyed the Chicken Skewers - it was fabulous!!! I took photos of everyone's dinner and may end up posting them at some point, but it is getting late.

Even though I was stuffed, I had to order the Waffles and Ice Cream so we could all have a taste for dessert. Isn't it beautiful?

We went straight from dinner to Awards Night. Look at the backdrop on the stage - stunning.

My friend Missy Shipman earned Founder's Circle by being one of the top 100 Demonstrators of the Year. She actually placed #64. However, that wasn't the best news of the night. She was chosen as a member of the Advisory Board! She was completely surprised and taken off guard, but thoroughly delighted!

Well, off to bed - early morning. I'll try to post again after activities tomorrow.

Here is a picture of me in the dress I made to wear tonight and the sun hat I made to go with it.

Here is one of my favorite swaps of the day (I have other swaps, but am too tired to take pictures because it is really late.) using a brand new set from the new catalog. We have some of the best sets in this new catalog!!!

At the Garden Party (Kick-Off Party) tonight, we were challenged to wear decorated sun hats to the party. I took a few pictures (but there were many more I should have taken - there are so many creative people here!!!).

I ate dinner twice tonight - once before the garden party and then again after - because I wanted to go out with the girls who hadn't eaten yet.

The first meal (my third of the day) was a "Plain Jane Potato - Lite Version" - can you believe this is the small version of their famous potato?

We went to dinner at Olive Garden after we finished at the Garden Party. I thought a nice frozen drink would be good. Don't worry - no booze.

I had planned on just eating a little salad, but the cheese ravioli looked so good I just had to order!

Well, I better get to bed. Convention officially starts tomorrow. Look for more information and photos when I get back to the hotel (if it's not too late).

Convention Check-In Day

I found the cutest photo op in Momento Mall - they were selling these adorable umbrellas and it looked like the perfect place to get a picture.

One of the best parts of convention is seeing the amazing talent and creativity that other Stampin' Up! demonstrators possess. Here are a couple pictures of cool projects I saw people wearing and had to take a photo.

These are beautiful purses made from our designer fabrics. I can't wait to go home and make one in the new black and white fabrics.

Here is a simple stamped silk scarf that someone made to tie on their bag. I just the the simply elegant look.

I'm heading out for dinner, coming back to the hotel to change dresses, and then going to the Garden Party tonight. If it's not too late when I get back, I'll post more photos.

I Got To Salt Lake City

I had a very smooth trip to Salt Lake City and I went for a light lunch with my friend Susan - a really yummy salad.

After unpacking (look how fun all of my dresses look hanging in the closet - I'm going to have trouble deciding which one to wear each day), I joined a group of friends for dinner at The Melting Pot. We had the most incredible dinner - look at the pictures below.

Here is the waitress starting the cheese fondue for us to start with - we dipped bread, vegetables, and chips.
The second course was salad - everyone shared some wonderful salads.
Next, she started a cooking pot and added vegetables -mushrooms, red potatoes, broccoli.

She brought out plates of meet - steak, chicken, seafood, ravioli, etc. and gave us instructions on how long to cook each.

We finished the night off with dessert. We picked Dark Chocolate and Bananas Foster. She also brought us plates of the most decadent treats to dip in them. There were bananas, pound cake, rice krispy treats, strawberries, marshmallows, and cheesecake. Even though our bellies were full, we couldn't stop eating.

If you ever get a chance to go to The Melting Pot, take it. It was a little pricey, but well worth it!!!

I will post pictures of my favorite swaps from each day during Convention. I haven't swapped any cards yet - Convention activities start tomorrow. However, a very talented stamper named Kirsteen brought some samples to dinner with her (some she had made and some from a shoebox swap she participated in). I took photos of my favorites (unfortunately I don't know who to give credit to).

This beautiful flower pot actually folds flat and fits in an envelope - I can't wait to try making one of these!!!

I love this stand-up card made using the scallop circle die and punches.

Here is a fun fold card made using the new Pennant Parade stamp set and coordinating punch.

Dresses, Dresses, Dresses

I haven't been posting lately because I've been busy preparing for Convention. Between swaps, convention gifts, and packing (on top of daily life and my normal Stampin' Up! events), I haven't had much down time to stamp for pleasure.

I decided it would be simplest to pack simple dresses, black & white shoes, and black & white sweaters. However, I didn't have that many dresses so I found a pattern I loved and have been sewing ALOT! Here is a picture of one I made yesterday. Notice the Stampin' Up! fabric at the bottom!!!

I've made 12 of these dresses in the last 2 1/2 weeks. I just kept finding cute fabrics that I couldn't resist! Now I have to decide which ones to pack.

I leave for Convention the day after tomorrow. As in the past, I am taking a laptop with me and plan to post photos and details of my trip each evening. Please check back to see my adventures at Stampin' Up! Convention.

Quick Birthday Card

I posted a card recently that was inspired by a gift bag. I'm amazed at the places I find inspiration. We have a 13th birthday party for our niece Rachel this afternoon. I had purchased this adorable bag from Thirty One for her. Well, when I sat down to make her card this morning, I remembered the long-retired stamp set Seeing Spots. It was perfect for a card to go with this bag.

Here is a closer view of the card. I stamped the circle designs in the colors on the bag, tied on some retired wide Chocolate Chip ribbon, and punched a greeting. I think it looks very nice together!
This just goes to show you, inspiration can come from anywhere. Keep your eyes open watching for colors, designs, patterns, etc. that inspire you!

Stampin' Up! Convention

My husband and I are planning on a Bahamas cruise with my parents for spring break next year, so I had decided not to attend Convention this year in an effort to save money.

Well, they extended the registration deadline and I just couldn't resist any longer. With Rich's encouragement, I registered, bought my plane ticket, and made room arrangements over the last couple of days. I'm so excited to be planning and preparing for this trip again - it's a busy week filled with stamping, food, and friends!

I will be leaving on July 12th for Salt Lake City. Be sure to check back that week for pictures and news from Convention.

As for current blog posts, I have two more days of meetings for school. I hope to have plenty of time at the campgrounds this weekend to play with my preorder items - stamps, in colors, and accessories. I will be posting projects as I complete them. Thanks for your patience!

School Demands

Baby Wipe Stripe Technique

Over the next couple of days, I'll be posing samples of the Baby Wipe Stripe technique. The instructions below apply to each of these cards.

Baby Wipe Stripe

Fold a baby wipe (works great around credit card) and add drops of reinker to the edge of the fold line. If you want a multicolored background, continue to add more colors.

Hint: For smaller stripes, add a small dot of reinker. For wider stripes, add longer stripes of reinker.

Line the inked fold up with the edge of the glossy cardstock. Wipe the inked baby wipe over the glossy cardstock to create striped background. Add more color, linking up the inked wipe with the existing stripes to intensify and even out the colors.

Stamp focal image directly over background.

Complete card or project as desired.

Baby Wipe

Create a "homemade stamp pad" by folding (or layering for larger images) baby wipe and place in paper plate.
Add drops of reinker starting with darkest and working to lightest color.

Ink stamp using this “homemade stamp pad”.
Stamp image (works best with glossy cardstock) and allow time to dry.

Complete card or project as desired.

As you may have noticed, I haven't posted a new Monthly Card Kit in my sidebar. I have decided to combine my Girls Night Out and Monthly Card Kit programs - this will save you money!!! You won't have to purchase a stamp set to complete the card kit each month because it will be included in the Girls Night Out fee.

I've now decided to make an additional item available with your Girls Night Out registration. If you would like to purchase the card kit (precut supplies and envelopes so you can make 12 additional cards using the designs you make at the event), the cost would be $20 - that's about $1.70 per card. Club Project Preview

I'm really excited to share the cards we will be making at club on Thursday. The first is a beautiful technique card that was inspired by a project by Jackie Bolhuis (I made it at the stamp camp she had this weekend where I also presented). I changed the colors to match the ribbon from the Sale-a-Bration button and ribbon bundle which you can earn FREE with at $50 purchase through the end of March.

The second card is the one I sent to Shannon (see post from 2/24/11 below) to congratulate her on promoting to Supervisor. These are both really quick and easy cards that carry a lot of WOW power.

-I am proud mother to a college senior - he is working on his secondary education degree.
-I live with my husband (Rich), cat (Snuggles), and spoiled wiener dog (Lily). Truth be known, Lily runs the house.
-I love to go camping - we camp 2 weeks on/1 week off all summer long - and I can't wait for the snow to go away!
-I LOVE being Kindergarten teacher at my "real job", but also LOVE my job as a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator! How lucky can I be to love both of my jobs?
-I'm an avid reader and always have my Kindle at my side - I slip it in my purse every morning so I have reading material if I need to wait anywhere.
-I work very hard to be organized, but you couldn't tell it if you walked into my craft room!
-I love my favorite TV shows - American Idol, Vampire Diaries, Young and the Restless (I record it every day because I'm in school), and House.
-I plan to run my Stampin' Up! business full-time when I retire in 14 years. Until then, I have to be content with part-time (although my husband often says it is like a full time job because I always want to be in my craft room).

One of the best parts of Leadership (or any Stampin' Up! event) is seeing other amazing demonstrators that you only see once or twice per year. Brenda Cardinal is one of those great demonstrators (and friends) for me. Even though you only see them for a few days per year, they always greet you with a wonderful smile and lots of friendship.

I had to share Brenda's photo here because she took the time to make a skirt and purse using the new Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric from the new Occasions Mini Catalog. It was absolutely adorable on her. I can't wait to make one for myself!

Her creativity flows in her paper creations also. I was lucky enough to get one of her adorable swaps too!

A Fun Day in Nashville

We enjoyed a wonderful brunch together this morning. I made my ham and omelet roll and we gathered fruit, toast, juice, and more to make a very filling and yummy meal. Our group enjoyed it so much that they asked me to post the recipe.

Ham & Cheese Omelet Roll

4 oz. cream cheese, softened
3/4 c. milk
2 T. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. salt
12 eggs
1 1/2 c. ham (finely chopped - 8 0z.)
1 1/2 c. cheddar or swiss cheese (shredded)
1/4 c. green onions with tops (thinly sliced)
2 T. Dijon mustard

Preheat oven to 375. Combine cream cheese and milk; whisk until smooth. Add four and salt; whisk to combine. In another bowl, whisk eggs until blended. Add cream cheese mixture; mix well. Line large stoneware bar pan with parchment paper pinching corners. Pour egg mixture into bottom of bar pan and bake 30-33 minutes or until omelet is puffy and golden.

Meanwhile, finely chop ham, shred cheese, and thinly slice green onions.

Remove omelet from oven; immediately spread with Dijon mustard, sprinkle with half of cheese, top with ham and green onions, then sprinkle with remaining cheese. Starting at one short side, roll up jelly-roll fashion, removing parchment paper as you roll. Garnish top with additional cheese and green onion, if desired. Let stand 5 minutes to allow cheese to melt. Slice and serve.

We were lucky enough to get a group photo with Shelli (the founder of Stampin' Up!) at the make and take party.
Here is my group of wonderful friends at lunch today. We are having such a great time.
The desserts today were fabulous - twix tart, and
cheesecake with fresh fruit.
We did enjoy real food today too. We had southwest chicken salad for lunch and dinner was a chicken breast with a wine sauce with mashed potatoes, steamed asparagus, and roasted tomatoes. The food has been incredible.

First Day of Leadership

I have to make this a quick post because I'm thoroughly exhausted - it's already 11:34 (past midnight at home)!!! It was a very busy, full, and exciting day today. We heard lots of great information, swapped with some amazing stampers, and learned about big changes that make being a demonstrator even more profitable and rewarding. By 9:30 (10:30 at home), we were getting quite slap happy - the photo below is proof of that!
My favorite item in the Stampin' Up! displays was a set of towels embellished with some of our new fabric and pom pom trim - cute, cute, cute!!!
Look at the adorable purse Stampin' Up! gave us as our Leadership bag - I even bought the coordinating wallet at Momento Mall! I took the photo to show off the gorgeous pin that a very talented demonstrator made - it uses our Antique Brads.
I had the most delicious fajitas with my friend Joey for lunch at Solario, but was soooo hungry I forgot to take a photo. I did remember at dinner though. This is the first Stampin' Up! event I've attended where they provided dinner (usually it's lunch and we're on our own for dinner). We had the wonderful salad below,
a crusted baked chicken with wild rice, steamed asparagus, and roasted tomato, and
the most delicious cheesecake for dessert!
Here is my favorite swap of the day - it was created by a demonstrator named Allison Okamitsu. I love how she used the designer paper, seam binding, embossing folder, and stamp set to create a vintage feel on this card.
Well, that's all I can share for tonight. I'll try to share even more tomorrow night.

St Jude Children's Research Hospital Visit

I arrived in Tennessee today, but spent most of the day waiting in airports, flying, or driving the 3 1/2 hours between Memphis and Nashville.

The highlight of my day was visiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I was greeted at the door by four members of the Fund Raising Department. They were all very grateful to have a Math-a-thon Coordinator come for a tour of the campus.

I was extremely impressed by the entire facility. I didn't realize how large the campus was and how much was housed internally - they have short, intermediate, and long term housing, dental and vision care for patients, their own blood bank, their own pharmacy, two research buildings, amazing play rooms, counseling programs, a chapel with three different religious services, an amazing "cafeteria" with everything you could ask for to eat - including an ice cream shop and a Starbucks! And that's just a short list of the things I saw while I was there.
One of the things that touched me the most was the volume and quality of artwork they have displayed throughout the facility that was created by patients. I will try to share more photos over the next few days (but I have to get to sleep soon so I will be ready to go to Leadership Conference at 7:30 in the morning - it's 11:49 now).

I think this was my favorite piece of artwork. The patients wrote about the bad parts of their illnesses on the white side and the good parts on the black side. I cried as I read some of the things they wrote.

This is Alexis, my personal tour guide! She was so incredibly thorough in her tour and her explanation of the different departments and parts of the hospital. She also made me feel very welcome and proud to be a part of the fund raising efforts for this special place.
I saw this bus at the airport picking up a patient. Alexis says that they provide airfare, transportation, housing, ect. for families that need it.
I've always felt a huge deal of pride, but now feel so much more pride in West Ward's fund raising efforts for the children at St. Jude after my visit.

Finally - A Post

I was so busy with Christmas, spending time with Rich who was also on vacation, and preparing for upcoming swaps that I didn't really have time to post much over Christmas Break.

Now that I am back in school (and working hard on report cards every night), I feel like I have even less time. I'm working so hard because I leave next week to go to Leadership in Nashville so I have to try to complete testing and recording for report cards before I leave.

I did get a chance to stamp a little over break and this is one of the cards I created. I will be doing this cool pop-up card with my club ladies on Thursday.

Stay tuned at the end of next week for many posts from Leadership. I will try to post the best cards and projects that I see, the fun activities we enjoy, and as always the decadent food that I eat while on these type of trips.

Quick & Easy Last Minute Gift

Check out the cute gloves I made for our niece this morning!
I had bought some scarves last year on clearance sale for $1 each. I used this one as my project inspiration. I took it to the fabric store and bought 3" strips of coordinating polar fleece. I cut flowers using the new Fun Flowers die (available in the new Occasions Mini starting January 4th) and added them to 70 cent stretchy gloves with a button. Quick, cute, & inexpensive - what more can you ask for?

I was so pleased with how the project turned out that I made several pairs!
My lucky club ladies are going to make these at our January club meeting too!

Projects from the Retreat

I attended a special retreat organized by Jackie Bolhuis (almost two weeks ago now - where does the time go?). We each brought supplies for a gift project we would give to a friend (not a card). The projects were amazing so I just had to share!

We made a decorative tile, a display board, a covered journal, a framed Christmas sampler, two decorative framed art projects, an etched glass votive holder, a photo cube, a wine bag complete with covered wine bottle and coordinating tag, and a decorative Christmas wall hanging (not pictured because I couldn't fit it into the picture and still get good detail on all projects). Watch for some of these projects to appear in upcoming classes.

The weekend was amazing - great projects, amazing food, wonderful company, and lots of great information from seasoned demonstrators. I was honored to be included and hope to attend every year!!!

Our Christmas Card Photos

I'm so excited to share our Christmas card photos. We had my friend Michelle Evans come over Sunday afternoon and take a series of family photos. She picked the best of each pose shared them with me today. These are my favorites:

I think the one with the pets will be the one we have printed for cards, but we may end up with a photo gallery on the wall with the rest of them - they turned out amazing!!!
The last one is of our son Aaron horsing around. He is in his senior year at Grand Valley for secondary education. We are so proud of him!
