New Playground for West Ward!!!

I know I've been posting a lot about school lately.  That is because I've been very busy with the beginning of the school year.  Yesterday, I helped pick out playground equipment and colors for the new playground that will be installed at our school.  They are saying the kids should be able to play on it before Thanksgiving- yippee!!!  I will share pictures of the awesome new playground after it is complete.

National Talk Like A Pirate Day

Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day so we are spending the day doing all kinds of fun pirate activities in my classroom.  Here is my attempt at cake decorating to celebrate the day - a treasure chest cake.  I will add more gold coins once I get to school (don't want them to slide off the board).  It is going to be a great day in Kindergarten - ahoy matey!!!

Birthday Cards - Same Supplies, Different Stamps

Our newest great nephew has his first birthday party tomorrow.  I found the cutest little outfit for him and had to buy it because I had a stamp set that would make the perfect card to go with it.  Here is the card I designed.
Here is the entire grouping together.  I stamped the card, envelope, and gift bag to coordinate with the gift itself.
Our son also turned 24 today so I needed to make him a masculine birthday card.  The heavy equipment seemed a little juvenile, but I liked the basic design of the card so I pulled out a different stamp set and made a couple of minor changes to make his birthday card.
I hope he likes the card, but I'm afraid the $100 bill inside will be all that he cares about.

Supplies:
Stamps:  I Dig You, Affection Collection, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:    Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Whisper White
Ink:        Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede
Other:    Big Shot with Cevron Embosing Folder & Tasteful Trim Die, Modern Label Punch, Dimensionals

Kids Say The Funniest Things

I took my class to the Allegan County Fair today.  There were three energetic boys in my group who kept me on my toes all morning.

After visiting the "farmer for a day" exhibit (where they got to milk a little wooden cow), one boy leaned over to the other and said "I didn't know that the milk came from the nuts.  Did you know the milk came from the nuts?"

Thank You Cards for Businesses

My friend Michelle Evans called me yesterday asking if I could help her design a customer thank you card to put in each of her orders for her new Grace Adele business.  Grace Adele is a new company in the Scentsy family brand that sells purses, jewelry, and other accessories.  She wondered if I had a stamp with purses and I found a long retired set "It's a Girl Thing".  I think it turned out cute for a quick, easy thank you.

Stamps:  It's a Girl Thing (retired)
Paper:    Whisper White, Pacific Point, Rich Razzleberry
Ink:        Basic Black, Pacific Point, Markers:  Rich Razzleberry & Pacific Point
Other:    Big Shot with Adorning Accents Edgelits, Basic Rhinestones

'Twas The Night Before Kindergarten,

when all through the class not a child was talking, there weren't any there.

The name tags were laid on the table with care, in hopes that the children soon would be there.

The new fish were swimming all happy in their tank, while visions of students danced in Mrs. Rogers' head.

Mrs. Rogers' desk was sparkling all clean and neat (wonder how long that will last),

and the tables were ready for each child to take their new seat.

I'm sure you can tell from the poem and photos that I am very excited and ready to start school tomorrow.  I hope your children have a wonderful school year (if they are still in school).

Special Christmas Card Class

Surprise and delight your friends and family with handmade Christmas cards this year.  During this quick, easy 1-2 hour class, you will make 20 adorable cards – each slightly different from the others – while making new friends and discovering a fun, creative outlet.

Regular price for handmade cards at a class like this is about $2 per card, but through this special offer, you can make 20 cards for $20 – that’s just $1 per handmade card!!!

Currently, all of these classes will be held in the community room at Cedar Trail Apartments behind the Kmart plaza at Drake and Stadium in Kalamazoo.  If there is enough interest, I would be happy to schedule a date near you at your convenience.

I’m currently offering three sessions –
Thursday, September 20th at 6:30
Monday, September 24th at 6:30
Wednesday, October 10th at 6:30

Paid registration is due by September 7th for the classes listed above.  You will need to email amyrogers1@charter.net or call 269-720-9225 with which session you would like to attend.
